Cha Am is the sleepy sister to the better known and International
beach resort of Hua Hin, which lies a little further south .
This is where Thai families come to have their own breaks from
a hectic and busy lifestyle in Bangkok. Busy at weekends but really
quiet on weekdays it offers a good choice of accommodation and
lots of great street and cafe food .
Food sellers come onto the beach and shall cook freshly prepared
meals while you wait, all at very reasonable prices.
I took an early morning walk and motor bike ride about 2 miles
north of Cha Am to a small fishing port. It was fascinating to
watch the men making the ice to keep the newly arrived fish fresh
for delivery to nearby towns and cities.
It is hard work and possibly for low pay too.
He shall soon have enough bags of ice for his day.
Fish is usually landed from around 7am depending on tides.
I was made very welcome to take photos and really enjoyed my
freedom to wonder about and take candid shots.
Afterwards it was an hour's walk back to my Guest House to relax
and have breakfast.

Very well run by Noom and Frederick, with best rooms around
100myr per room per night including sea view and balcony.
At early evening, the beach parasols look like tulips waiting to
open under the full sunshine of the morning sun.
